Countywide Guardrail Upgrades

The work to be done generally consists of replacing guardrail end treatments with either FLEAT or SKT terminal systems and adjusting, replace, or transitioning existing Metal Beam Guardrail (MBGR) to Midwest Guardrail System (MGS) at three different sites as described below: Marsh Creek Road – Work consists of replacing and adjusting existing guardrail systems including posts, railing, and end treatments with the Midwest Guardrail System standard as shown on the plans. Guardrail will have both wood and metal posts. Site limits are from Clayton city limits to Camino Diablo Road in Brentwood. San Pablo Dam Road – Work consists of replacing guardrail rail elements including upgrading end treatments, adjusting height and replacing metal rails on existing posts to the Midwest Guardrail System standard. Site limits are from the Richmond city limits to Bear Creek Road.Vasco Road – Work consists of replacing guardrail in order to transition from Metal Beam Guardrail to Midwest Guardrail System and replacing end treatments and adjusting guardrail. Some guardrail in the southern portion of Vasco Road has a wildlife exclusion fence that will need to be reattached to the new posts. Site limits are from Walnut Boulevard to the Alameda County Line.
